COLUMBUS — Today, Sarah Ingles, lifelong Central Ohio resident and public education advocate, officially launched her campaign to serve on the Columbus City School Board.

"I believe every Columbus City Schools student, teacher, and staff member deserves a supportive and vibrant education space," Ingles said. "I will work with any and all community members who seek to help strengthen our schools. Together, we can defend public education at the Statehouse, at the local level, and in our communities."

Sarah Ingles has a strong background in community education, workers' rights, and financial planning.

  • Ingles currently serves as a labor lawyer, representing unions and low-wage and immigrant workers. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

  • In a previous role as a financial advisor, Ingles created a program to teach college seniors about retirement accounts, managing money post-graduation, and navigating the healthcare system.

  • In her role as a community manager at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Ingles raised tens of thousands of dollars to help fund the organization's battle against cancer.

  • She leads the Board of Directors of a local non-profit dedicated to serving low-wage and immigrant workers.

  • She has spent time in the classroom, teaching civics at Fort Hayes High School as a Marshall-Brennan fellow.

"I know firsthand how important it is for a community to hold their School Board accountable to ensure the best possible outcomes for students," Ingles continued. "I am committed to being accessible to the entire CCS community throughout my campaign and as a member of your School Board."

Ingles and her team will be holding a petition drive-through event this Sunday, January 15th, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the Whetstone Branch of the Columbus Library. Columbus City School District residents are encouraged to come meet Sarah and sign her candidate petition.
